by Cris Dunnam

"This product rocks," said Jason Litchford, product manager for the iMic. "It will allow iBook owners to immdiately use any of the thousands of microphones that are already available".

What's Jason talking about? Griffin Technology will be releasing the iMic™ universal audio adapter for Apple's new iBook computers. The iMic is slated for a September release just in time for the iBook. The iMic™, like the NE Mic Plaintalk audio adapter, allows you to use virtually any microphone or audio input device. The Nashville, TN company also carries a line of microphones that are compatible with both adapters.

Griffin is introducing a number of cool new products for the iBook. The iMic™ universal audio adapter is a USB device that allows the connection of virtually any microphone or sound input device to the iBook. Slated to ship when the iBook is released, the iMic will have 1/8" and RCA inputs and supports both line and mic level input. The iMic will provide professional quality sound input with support for stereo input at up to 48 Khz.

Key Features:

  • Supports better than CD quality at up to 48 Khz sampling.
  • Works with virtually any microphone.
  • Both 1/8 " stereo and stereo L&R RCA inputs.
  • Incredible value at only $25.

Supports:

The iMic can be preordered now but will not ship until the release of the iBook. Advance orders will not be charged until they ship. At $25.00, Griffin Technology's audio adapter offers a great low-end solution for novice or professional Digital musicians, Audio/Video producers, Multimedia designers, and Voice Recognition users.
