h | h | BitHeadz Announces "Steve Reid's Global Percussion" Virtual Percussion Sound Module is Now Shipping -- BitHeadz has announced the newest addition to their virtual instrument collection, "Steve Reid's Global Percussion," is now shipping. BitHeadz has partnered with world renowned percussionist Steve Reid to combine high quality samples of his vast world percussion instrument collection with the powerful Unity DS-1 playback engine. Steve Reid's Global Percussion contains pristine samples of exotic percussion instruments from all over the world. No additional hardware is required to play these sounds, thanks to BitHeadz' Unity DS-1 Digital Sampler Engine which installs on your Mac or PC along with the sample data. You can trigger the samples in real-time from any MIDI keyboard, or incorporate the instruments into your MIDI sequencer running on the same computer. The instruments are sampled in both Unity DS-1 format and Voodoo format to provide new sounds for owners of the award winning Unity DS-1 Digital Sampler and Voodoo MIDI Drum Machine. Over 200 megabytes of samples are included with instruments ranging from dunbeks, kalimbas, and hand drums to shakers, frame drums and waterphones-over 100 instruments cover everything from the Amazon to the Euphrates. Many of the models utilize 4 velocity layers for ultimate expressiveness. There are also several GM mapped kits to "replace" standard drum kits. Using Global Percussion with your favorite sequencer is simple. If you use CubaseVST(tm), Vision DSP, or Emagic's Logic( you can use ReWire* to route different Percussion Kit sounds into individual mixer inputs on up to 16 different MIDI Channels. Plug-in effects can then be added to each of these parts if desired. If you use Digital Performer by MOTU, you can achieve the same results using MOTU's new MAS 2.0 plug in standard. BitHeadz Announces Osmosis v. 1.1.2 Now Shipping -- The award winning manufacturer of software synthesizers has announced new functionality for their Osmosis Sample Conversion Utility. Osmosis now will read and convert the extensive Roland sample CD ROM libraries into Unity DS-1 or SampleCell format. Osmosis is an easy to use application for converting Akai S1000 or S3000 format CD-ROM's, and now Roland format CD ROM's, into Unity DS-1 or SampleCell format using any Macintosh or PC with a CD-ROM drive. Osmosis is a single window application that displays the Akai or Roland partitions, volumes, performances, programs, partials, and samples. Conversion is accomplished by simply dragging the desired data to your Macintosh or PC desktop. All multisample and program voicing parameter data is retained. Samples can be auditioned directly from the removable media disk, then transferred to hard disk in AIFF, Sound Designer II, WAVE, or Unity DS-1 format. Akai "Left/Right split" samples can be automatically merged into a true stereo file. Any CD-ROM drive (SCSI or IDE) and most other types of removable media drives can be used.(Zip, MO, etc.) "The new 'Convert Entire Disk' function works so well that most of our Unity DS-1 customers have already ordered Osmosis to convert their Akai and Roland libraries into Unity DS-1 format."
