Hi. Thinking of getting a Mac. I am deciding between the iMac DVSE 600 and the entry-level G4 466. I’ll be using this machine for general stuff(E-mail, internet etc) and recreational music purposes. Will not be using MIDI. Digital based production, everything from the hard disk. A mate of mine tells me that the iMac will be a better option as it leaves me some cash for accessories and software. He tells me that without the Velocity Engine, there is not much difference between a G3 & a G4. And if the application does not make use of VE, it will run the same whether it is on a G3 or a G4. As for the PCI slots, he told me that if I wasn’t planning on getting a soundcard or using MIDI, there would be no use for them. Opinions anyone?
